Design
Covered in black leather, it has an awesome feel to it. The metallic black hues and the sleek black design is a sure shot winner. The notebook is really light, with only 3 pounds on the scale it can be carried around very easily. The leather usage in Asus has been a real attraction to those who love its feel, and the real quality leather is a definite plus. The screen is a crisp 11.1 inches, which supports a maximum resolution of 1366x768 . A WXGA, it uses the LED technology extensively to give a good battery life. The screen is one of those flawless ones in which you just cant find a single light bleed or bad viewing angle. Now for the keypad, the response is very good and touch typing is easy. A very remarkable thing is the zero flex even after the positioning of the optical drive under the pad. The connectivity options include express card slot, 3 USB 2.0, HDMI, microphone in, RJ-11, RJ-45, VGA out, 8-in-1 digital media card reader. Overall, the design and build factor is really cool.
Performance
Powered by the ultra light voltage Intel Core-2-Duo U7500 1.06 Ghz processor, 120 GB HDD, 3GB RAM and Intel X3100 on-board graphics, this machine is a good performer. Its not designed for extreme performance but portable power. The absence of a dedicated graphics card makes this notebook unfit for high-end games. The laptop scored 2,145 PCMark 05 and only 407 3DMark 06 declaring its shortcomings in the graphics department.
Conclusion
A very impressive notebook by design, the Asus U2E fails to deliver in the graphics department. The power is sufficient for executives on the go, but is definitely not for desktop replacement. Super luxurious average performer should sum it up.
Pros
+ Low voltage decent processor
+ Flawless Design
Cons
- Average performance
- Noisy fan
