BUY AN ASUS UL20A AND GET $75 GIFT CERTIFICATE FROM AMAZON

Asus is expected to offer a promotion in association with Amazon some time soon. As per the deal, buyers will get about $75 off the price of its ‘UL20A’ thin and light laptop.

Amazon currently sells the UL20A for $581 which is less than the MSRP of $600. Starting today buyers who purchase the device from Amazon will also get a gift certificate worth $75 which kind of means that you will be able to buy the device for about $506. Of course, you will have to buy at least $75 worth of stuff from Amazon.

The Asus UL20A is a 12.1 inch thin and light laptop with 1366x768 pixels. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. Other notable features include WiFi 802.11b/g/n and a 0.3 megapixel web camera. The machine runs on Windows 7 Home Premium. The battery is expected to give up to 7.5 hours of run time.

AMAZON OFFERS GIFT CERTIFICATES WITH THE PURCHASE OF ASUS NOTEBOOKS

In an older post we mentioned that Amazon plans to offer customers a $75 gift certificate when they buy an Asus UL20A thin and light notebook through their online store. Well, Amazon has made the promotion page live, and there are more laptops on offer.

Besides the UL20A, the offer is available with two other models as well. Customers who buy the Asus UL50A and Asus UL80A through Amazon will get a $100 gift certificate. These notebooks are larger and pricier than the 12.1 inch UL20A.

The offer doesn’t knock $75 or $100 off the price. Actually, what you are getting is a gift certificate with which you will be able to buy a product of your choice from the Amazon store. And Amazon sells pretty much everything so this isn’t much different from getting a real discount.

AMAZON DROPS KINDLE PRICE BY $60

Amazon Has dropped price of its Kindle 2 e-reader by $60. The popular device can be bought for $299 at the moment.

The Kindle 2 was introduced in February this year. It is a simple device for surfing the web. It comes with a better display and offers a better battery life than its predecessor. Kindle 2 also sports a slimmer body. Reports said that the drop in price was due to an increase in manufacturing volume. Kindle DX, a larger version of Kindle e-reader, is still being sold for its original price of $489.

The e-reader war is getting intense with more and more players joining the fray. Amazon now faces stiff competition from Sony’s Digital Reader which has two models available for $349 and $279.99. Another contender is the soon-to-be-launched CrunchPad, the fate of which will be ultimately decided by its price.
