ARCHOS RELEASES SPECIAL DEVELOPER EDITION FIRMWARE FOR ITS TABLETS

Archos is known for its Internet media tablets known by the name Archos 5 and Archos 7. Both devices are capable of being the internet companion you can carry around. And they are relatively cheap. The Archos 5 starts at around $199, whereas the Archos 7 is available for $209.

But now more and more tablets are arriving. Apple has proposed one. Microsoft’s Courier may also come out next year. So does Archos stand a chance against these big rivals?

Well, the Apple and Microsoft tablets may hog all the headlines when they do arrive, but they will largely remain beyond the reach of the average Joe who just wants a device better than a 4-inch smartphone to browse the internet. And this is where Archos scores. The company recently released a new and special edition of firmware so that more developers can provide content and applications for its tablets Archos 5 and Archos 7.

ARCHOS RELEASES ITS FIRST EVER NOTEBOOK

Archos, a French company known for its electronic devices, has introduced its first ever notebook, the 13.3 inch Archos 13. The machine is very compact and has extremely attractive looks.

The Archos 13 has a 13.3 inch LED backlit display with 1280x800 resolutions. It is powered by a low voltage Intel Celeron processor clocking at 1.2GHz. Other specifications include 120GB hard drive and 1GB RAM. These specifications aren’t very impressive for a notebook, but they are better than the usual netbook specifications. Another not so great feature is the bloatware that comes bundled with this PC. Besides offering little functionality these software tends to slow down the PC.

On the plus side, a very impressive feature of this notebook is its 10-cell battery which will provide a great deal of uptime. Despite having a large power pack, the machine keeps a slim profile and weighs just 1.5 kg. No information regarding the pricing is available as yet, but it is expected to cost around $800.

ARCHOS INTROS WINDOW'S 7 TABLET

Its not like this should be entirely unexpected from Archos seeing they specialize in this type of thing. But this one is really cool especially seeing that it will launch in October with some version of Window's 7 installed. More importantly it will carry Bluetooth, 80GB HDD and dual DVB-T antennas. As to the processor it seems that there will be an Atom 7515 1.2GHz CPU included and pricing is set somewhere in the low $600's.

And guess what we have a video below of this product being demoed. Please do not follow the gentleman who claims that it is multi touch because to this point there is no confirmation by Archos if that is true or not.

ARCHOS ANNOUNCES 10S NETBOOK AND A 9-INCH TABLET

It's just been a few weeks since Archos announced the Intel Atom based 10-inch netbook and now it has come up clean with its idea to release two more netbooks based on the Intel Atom processor and the second generation 'Moorestown' platform and a 9-inch Tablet PC.

There was not much to talk about Archos 10 which was powered by an Intel Atom processor, 1GB DDR memory, up to 160GB hard drive capacity and preloaded with Windows XP.

The yet to be released Archos 10s netbook featurs a sleek and slim design measuring just 20mm thick with support for 3.5G networks. It will of course have a 10-inch display and packs a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU.

The 9-inch Tablet PC on the other hand is powered by Intel Atom Z5xx processor and a System Controller Hub and has hard drive options ranging from 60GB to 160GB. It will also include a virtual keyboard and a handwriting recognition software. The 9-inch Tablet PC will weigh 0.8Kg and will measure just 17mm thick.

Archos announced an Android-based tablet, which is in development stage, with features like smartphone abilities along with media and internet browsing. Quite the busy bee, Archos is also planning on MiniPC Tablets or MIDs based on 'Moorestown' platform for release in 2010.

The Archos 10s is expected to be shipped sometime in April and the 9-inch is scheduled for a later date somewhere in the third quarter of 2009.

ARCHOS 10 NETBOOK

You might, or might not be aware that Archos is actually a company and not a stupid little France name. But in case you didn't know about them, they are the makers of those 5 and 7 inch PMP's with Opera pre installed that you might have heard about.

ARCHOS TV+ - IT’S NEW AND YET APPEALING WITH THE FEATURE LOADED DESIGN

ARCHOS TV+The Archos TV+ is jam-packed of enormous concepts and ideas, starting from the Wi-Fi association to the content portal and downloadable video substance. But as we generally see with fresher gadget markets, superior concepts and ideas do not equal an enormous product. Archos has incorporated some extremely superior design features in the Archos TV+, beginning with the lustrous white case. The superior alternative of course is the HDMI output tucked away in the corner. That rationalizes a whole lot of wires for those who desire to do so. The front is appealingly oblivious, offering only stationary color LED's to confirm status changes from red or green (working, not working) and an IR port concealed behind there somewhere. It's uncomplicated, yet, slightly unflattering.

The underside of the container features the 4 pedestal feet that provide the unit boost to allow the hard drive (conspicuous) breath. We're betting that if you may possibly figure out some know how, you could definitely promote this unit from the stockpile 80 GB it comes with...but that may be a diverse day, a different article. It’s slender enough to fit around most TV stands devoid of getting in the means of other electronics like a DVD player or satellite recipient. Weighing in at less than 3 lbs I swiftly placed it subsequent to my recipient with one hand, and I was overwhelmed with how easy it was to plug in and get in progress with the design. That’s always an advantage for a machine that isn’t frequently used as of yet.
