HALERON UNVEILS SWORDFISH NETBOOK WITH ATOM 330

Haleron surprised the world a few weeks ago by announcing a netbook sporting two separate Intel Atom N270 processors. It is not sure whether the concept will materialize, but now the company has unveiled another netbook with an Intel Atom 330 processor. Called Swordfish 20, the new device is powered by a dual core Atom 330 processor with 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.

The Atom 330 is a processor usually found on desktops. While it offers better performance than the netbook specific N270/N280, it also consumes more power.

The Swordfish 20 netbook is equipped with a 10.2 inch display featuring 1024x600 pixels. The standard storage option is a 160GB hard drive, but you can opt for a 250GB drive. Other specifications include Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, 3 USB ports, VGA, Ethernet, a 5-in-1 card reader and a 1.3MP webcam. It has a 6 cell battery and an unlocked 3G modem. Prices start at $499.

SWORDFISH LAUNCHES NETBOOK WITH TWO PROCESSORS

Swordfish has launched a concept netbook powered by two processors. Dubbed Swordfish Net Dual Netbook, the tiny machine packs two Intel Atom based processors inside.

Many PCs these days feature dual core processors which have two processing cores running in one single chip. But the Swordfish Net Dual netbook has two separate Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz processors. The dual processor concept is attracting a lot of attention. It is true having two processors will result in improved performance. On the flip side, they will consume a lot of power making the device not very power efficient.

Other features of the Swordfish netbook include 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard disk, 10.2 inch display, 3G WCDMA card, Wi-Fi, dual-Bluetooth, 4-in-1 card reader and 1.3 MP webcam. The device will run on the Windows XP Home Operating system. The 3-cell battery is expected to give 2-3hours of uptime.
