SONY UNVEILS THIRD E-READER


Sony has unveiled its third e-reader. The new device provides wireless Internet access through AT&T’s 3G mobile broadband network.

The new Reader Daily Edition will be retailed for about US$399. It provides connectivity to several online stores including Sony’s ebook store from where users can purchase and download books, newspapers and magazines. No monthly fee is charged for basic wireless connectivity.

The Daily Edition will have a 7-inch touch screen. It has an aluminum body. Sony announced its Reader Touch Edition and the Reader Pocket Edition earlier this month. The Touch Edition with its 6-inch touchscreen costs $299. The Pocket Edition has a 5-inch screen and is priced at $199. The devices will be released shortly. They will offer stiff competition to Amazon’s Kindle e-reader.
