NETGEAR EVA2000 MEDIA STREAMING DEVICE

The Netgear Digital Entertainer Live EVA2000 is a portable media streaming device. The little box features a technology that allows it to access web content from sources like You Tube, Hulu and Amazon among others. For accessing the content all you have to do is to download and install PlayOn on a PC connected to your home network.

Besides streaming web media to a TV, the EVA2000 can also stream audio, video and pictures from a PC to a TV set. It works with an Ethernet connection. You can also use a Netgear WN111 802.11n WiFi adapter with the box to stream media over a wireless network.

On the flipside, the device can’t stream most HD video. But Netgear representatives said that they are working on adding support for 720p video in a variety of formats. The EVA2000 is now available for about $107.

ACTIVE MEDIA UNVEILS AVIATOR 312 SSD

Active Media has released a USB 3.0 solid state drive – the Aviator 312. This device offers great read and write speeds and is one of the fastest drives available in the market.

The Aviator 312 is basically an external Solid State Drive. It is powered by the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 technology which allows it to be totally external. Active media claims that it is capable of attaining read speeds of up to 240MB/S and write speeds of up to 160MB/S.

On the flipside, the drives are pricey for their size. They are also only available in small capacities. A 16GB drive will cost $89, a 32GB $119, and a 64GB $209.

MEDION LAUNCHES P8610 18" MEDIA CENTER NOTEBOOK

It seems like there is big business for laptops with gigantic screens (and why now) as more and more people are trading their desktop systems for "desktop replacement" laptop systems. Medion apparently got that as has just released the P8610 media center notebook that includes an 18" inch screen.

Basic specs includes a 1,680 x 945 resolution (18") screen which is full 16:9 ratio, Dolby audio output in 5.1 surround, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5800, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, d 512MB GeForce 9600M GS graphics card, 3 USB 2.0 ports, eSATA/USB port, HDMI port, VGA port, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/draft-n) and to top it off a 1.3 mega pixel camera.

In case you're wondering about price the system can be yours for the equevilant of $1,100 USD.
