Nowadays the release of a netbook has become a matter of everyday almost. So more is the quantity more is the confusion of choosing the best one. And the confusion increases when you are told different price tags for similar models with almost same features. MSI X-SLIM X340 CULV NOT UNDER $1K

We are thankful for Engadget pointing this out, apparently MSI is taking us for a joyride with their pricing schemes. We were told back in January that the X-SLIM laptops would be under the $1k price tag. Well from what we are seeing, its starting at $1,099.

A laptop, also known as a notebook computer, is a small mobile computer that one uses in order to move around with his or her data wherever he or she goes. Laptops vary in price depending on the specifications of the machine’s typical components. Details like the hard drive space, the computers memory and also the processor matter a lot in determining the price of the laptop. There are, however, fast computers that are valued below $400. The major types of laptops that cost under $400 are those by OLPC. OLPC is an acronym, which means ‘One Laptop per Child’. A charitable organization helps in providing educational tools to the less fortunate in the developing nations.

This charitable organization deals with XO laptop computers where XO develops laptops that cost under $400. XO receives profits of between 5% and 10% from the sale of these computers. The OLPC is nonprofit making only about two million dollars from each of its members to facilitate the manufacture of these laptops. Hence, they are made cheap to help the developing nations. Also, when one buys, he or she promotes the education of the less fortunate. Therefore, most people buy such laptops to help other people more than for their personal use.

Most laptops that cost under $400 are second hand laptop computers. These second hand laptops are good also as the have only aged but have good functioning capabilities. There are also new laptops that go for less that amount. These laptops are from major companies like Acer, Toshiba and also HP. They provide an option to get reliable laptops for less than $400. The only thing is that they make them and install Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Linux operating system (OS). They also function well without the Windows Vista which is at service pack 1 (SP1). When one also wants to have a good laptop, one should consider a customized laptop. This is where one chooses the specifications that he or she wants to have in his or her laptop. One can give this specification to the manufacturer or to an assembling company to combine the specifications that one wants. It will definitely cost less than what would have cost one to buy a new laptop with the high specifications.

Many organizations and companies have come up with a strategy that can help more people to buy laptops. Hence with their collaborations, they have developed laptops that cost under $400 with major companies like Toshiba, Compaq and also IBM teaming up with other organizations, which will have a deal to make cheap laptop and notebook computers. Such major organizations usually refurbish laptops that are in bad condition and sell them at cheaper prices to the market. Used laptops are also sold by these organizations at a cheaper price. Other laptops that cost under $400 can come about when a company decides to give discounts to people according to their age, a season like Christmas and organizations like schools corporate discounts for companies or even the military.

INTEL CORP. UNDER THE SCAN

Intel Corp, the world's most important semiconductor producer, is facing a official antitrust exploration spurred on by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. Accused by competitor Advanced Micro Devices Inc of degrading its position in the $280 billion chip marketplace, Intel has faced analogous inquiries in Europe and Asia. Until lately, the FTC had been unwilling to commence an official investigation. Intel sustains that they have done nobody wrong, having specified over hundreds of thousands of documents to the FTC.
