HP MINI 311 OFFICIAL PRESS SHOTS RELEASED

HP has unveiled the official press shots of its upcoming Mini 311 netbook. The device will be known by the name Compaq Mini 311c in Europe.

The Mini 311 is expected to be powered by an ION LE platform. It will have an 11.6 inch display with 1366x768 pixels. HP is yet to announce the netbook officially, but reliable sources claim that it will have an 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor with 1GB of RAM and 160GB of storage.

The keyboard will be nearly full-sized. Other features include Wi-Fi (b/g), Bluetooth, HDMI out, three USB 2.0 ports, webcam and 5-in-1 card reader. The Mini 311 will be available in two colors – black and white.

No information regarding pricing or availability has been announced.

VILIV S7 PRODUCTIVITY MID – SPECIFICATIONS BECOME OFFICIAL!

Though Viliv's S7 Productivity MID was announced last august at the Intel Developer Forum making a big splash with its awesome tablet form factor, the specifications and other details remained a mystery. Now Viliv has finally revealed what's under this sleek model's impressive hood.

The Viliv S7 Productivity MID is powered by Intel Atom Silverthorne processor 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, with of 16GB or 60GB of Solid State Drive. It sports a 7-inch touch screen with 1024 x 600 display screen. The specifications also include wireless connectivity of 802.11b/g, Intel GMA 500 graphics, HSDPA, WiMAX and comes preloaded with Windows XP. Though a blueray HD video playback is promised it does not include an optical drive. It also has a 1.3webcam, stereo speakers, integrated mic, VGA, 2 USB ports, a continuous 7 hours of movie playback time and an impressive 200 hours of stand by time. It weighs just 800g and measures 210 x 117 x 26 mm. Though the price is still unknown, with these specs the Viliv S7 can pose a tough competition for some very hi-tech ultraportable notebooks like the Sony Vaio P.

The Viliv S5, which is more of an entertainment notebook, features a 4.8-inch display with WSVGA(1024 x600) or WVGA(88 x 480) resolution. You have an option of either 60GB or 30GB for hard drive. This model doesn't have SSD but comes with WiMAX and HSDPA and offers 6 hours of continuous movie playback and good connectivity. One more version of Viliv is the X70 model that uses Intel's new 1.33GHz Silerthorne processors. Other than that the X70 comes with a combination of the S5 and S7's specifications.

The prospect of a new gaming notebook from MSI is not completely new as they did briefly demo something to the effect a few weeks ago at CES. But it was about time that they come official with it and so they did.

It seems that CES will be flooded with an array of netbooks, each outwitting the other with a new concept that is popping up every other minute. Emtec has come up with one such unique netbook concept called Gdium which uses a bootable USB flash drive to store the entire OS. The flash drive is called as G-Key that fits in the front of the netbook and comes in 8GB or 16GB, but can be extended up to 32GB or more using a SDHC card . The G-Key is compatible with any Gdium netbook making it possible for multiple users to access a system, each with their own OS and data stored in the interchangeable flash drives. This innovative concept that gives security and mobility is put together with an elegant, stylish and sturdy design that measures 250 x 182 x 32 mm and weighs just 1.2Kg .

The Gdium netbook inculdes a 10-inch LCD display with 1024 x 600 resolution, CPU 900 MHz 64bits Loongson 2F by Microelectronics, 512MB DDR2 RAM, WiFi 802.11b/g, SD/SDHC card reader, Sound card, VGA output, Video card Silicon Motion SM502, Ethernet, Webcam, multi-finger touchpad, speakers and an extended keyboard for comfort. The Gdium runs on Mandriva G-Linux and comes preloaded with Firefox, Thunderbird, Spam Assassin, OpenOffice, ClamAV and much more. It also has online backup facility to restore your data in case you lose your G-Key. The price is expected to be around $400.

MSI WIND U115 HYBRID IS OFFICIAL !

MSI has officially announced the U115 Hybrid Netbook. The hybrid part refers to a dual hard drive, both SSD and HDD. The MSI U115 Hybrid will be the first notebook to use both these drives simultaneously. The 8GB solid state drive will improve the performance while the 160GB HDD will serve as a mass storage, perfect mix for an extreme performance. According to MSI the SSD system is much faster and takes up less power than the HDD while retrieving files and has better shock resistant while on the go.

Other specifications of U115 Hybrid include Intel Atom Processor Z530 1.60GHz, Windows XP Home, Intel Poulsbo US15W, Up to 2GB DDR2 RAM, 10" 1024x600 LCD Panel, 4 in 1 Card Reader, 1.3 or 2.0 MP Webcam, 3 USB 2.0 , 3 / 6 cell battery, Bluetooth and weighs about 1Kg and there is still no word about the pricing. The U115 Hybrid also has an ECO mode that will temporarily disconnect the HDD when not in use and will extend the life of the battery. MSI has promised a super long battery life and if it comes to be true this Hybrid will be on top of the most wanted list.

ACER ASPIRE ONE GETS OFFICIAL AT&T 3G NETWORK

The worlds most loved netbook (literally) has just gotten more love from the big guys over at AT&T. There is a catch as usual though. To get the onboard 3G card you'll have to sign a dumb two year contract with AT&T. But you do get the netbook for $99.
