HP PAVILION DM1 NETBOOK REVIEW

The HP Pavilion DM1 occupies the space between an Atom netbook and a full-fledged notebook. It can easily compete with other 11.6 inch models like Acer Aspire 1410 and Lenovo U150.

Build quality
Build quality is reasonably good. The screen lid, however, shows some flex. The Pavilion DM1 is as thin and light as any other netbook. The bottom of the netbook provides easy access panels for internal components so upgrading this netbook is easy.

Specifications
Processor: 1.2GHz Intel Celeron SU2300 processor
Graphics: integrated GMA 4500MHD
Memory: 2GB of RAM
Storage: 250GB hard drive
Battery: 6-cell

Other configurations with dual core Pentium SU4100 processor are also available.

Ports
Port selection is average. There are 3 USB ports, an HDMI port, Ethernet and WiFi 802.11b/g. There is only a single jack for mic and headphone.

Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard does offer a solid feel and good tactile feedback. It shows no signs of flex at all. But it is smaller for a 10 inch netbook. The touchpad disappoints. It doesn’t support multi-touch gestures which is kind of surprising because plenty of small and inexpensive netbooks now come with multi-touch touchpads. The buttons are stiff and noisy.

Screen and Speakers
The 11.6 inch display comes with 1366 x 768 pixels. The display itself is good with good color and contrast. The Altec Lansing speakers produce great audio. The microphones are also great.

Battery life
The 6-cell lithium ion battery provides around 4.5 hours of runtime under normal use.

Performance
Performance is quite satisfactory. The netbook has enough power to handle day-to-day jobs like web browsing and word processing. The integrated Intel graphics can’t handle graphics rich video games but it is good enough to decode HD video (720p and 1080p).

Pros
High resolution display
Solid keyboard
Good speakers and microphone
Silent cooling system

Cons
Touchpad lacks multi-touch supports
Stiff and noisy touchpad buttons
Small keyboard
No Bluetooth or WiFI N

HP PAVILION DV3

The HP Pavilion dv3 is a slick budget-friendly notebook. At 4.7 pounds it is a portable alternative to the more powerful but slightly heavier Gateway UC7807u.

The dv3 is powered by the AMD 2.3 GHz Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-84 CPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM. While Gateway UC7807u does well in the performance department, dv3 stands its ground in the stamina department. At 5.5 hours, the battery life is great. Another plus point of this laptop is its amazing display screen.

There are enough connectivity options in the forms of HDMI and VGA video outputs, two USB 2.0 ports, one hybrid USB/eSATA port (ideal for high-speed data jockies), a PC Express Card slot, a flash-card reader, ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth. There is also a slot-fed DVD burner. The hard disk drive has 320 GB capacity.

The keyboard is good. Despite this being a low-end model, HP has taken the trouble to accommodate the touch-sensitive shortcut buttons on this keyboard. On the flip side, the function keys are barely visible.

The touchpad feels nice but its multitouch drivers are more than enough to give you some serious headaches. Don’t be surprised if you feel the need to turn the drivers off altogether.

Like other HP models this too comes with some preinstalled applications. While most of them are totally unnecessary some applications like the HP Advisor bar and ‘PC Health & Security’ button are really handy.

Conclusion
This laptop has enough plus points to make it worth considering. Performance is strictly OK. Battery life is good. Display is great. The only problem most users will have is with the touchpad.

HP PAVILION DV 7 - 1135 NR QUICK REVIEW

HP Pavilion DV 7 – 1135 nr - The ultimate design!

The updated version of the DV 3000 series, the DV 7 has similar designs to the earlier models of the DV lineup with the exception of inclusion of Intel Centrino 2 processors to boost its performance.

The note book being targeted as an obvious replacement for the desktop has quite a lot of new features which enhance the multi media handling capabilities compared to the earlier DV 3000 series. It has a wide selection features specially for enhancing the multi media applications. The USP of this notebook apart from the amalgamation of its superior features is its pricing.

The DV 7 is considered ‘Bigger and Shinier’ compared to the previous versions of the DV 3000 series. It has exceptional build quality and immaculate performance.

By the external look and feel, the DV 7 is quite identical to the DV 9000 series, though there are certain visual differences between the two. The over all finishing effect is much better compared to the earlier versions, that is despite the fact, that there has been extra use of glossy finish. The glossy finish at some points becomes a bit tedious to handle and work with and is prone to get dirtier with lot of finger print marks which get left behind during and after the use.

The DV 7 has 17’ display screen with 1680 x 1050 pixels display resolutions. The display screen gives out rich colors although becomes a touch reflective at times, when multi media applications are in use. The note book has a frameless display with the flush screen providing better appeal aesthetically. The DV 7, like all other note books from the Pavilion range has a row of LED light buttons which are backlit on the keyboard.

Being a replacement to the desk top machine, the DV 7 has a full sized key board which includes a 10 key numeric keypad as well. The metallic finish keys are very comfortable to operate and use especially when typing long documents. The wide touch pad though is a bit uneasy as it drags a bit more than what the users might prefer. The on/ off buttons on the touch pad are very easy to operate and a very handy, when an external mouse is being used.

The DV 7 has all other user friendly features which have been present the earlier versions as well. Features like Stereo speakers, dual headphone jacks, DVD burner etc. form a standard part of the DV 7.

Price: Approx. $700

HP PAVILION HDX18 REVIEW

HDX family is bigger – HP New launch

HP PAVILION HDX18HP lately unveiled their most recent additions to the "HDX" relatives of laptops with the all innovative Pavilion HDX16 and HDX18 multimedia laptops. These laptops feature huge displays with a 16:9 screen ratio, inspiring speakers with an incorporated subwoofer, and a ground-breaking touch-sensitive media control panel. Our 1st look provides you a model of what you can anticipate from the huge and inspiring HDX18.

Design
The HDX18 shares quite a few design elements with the rest of the efficient HP Pavilion line, but more than dimension and weight disconnect the HDX18 from its less significant siblings. 1st, HP the new-fangled 16:9 ratio flaunt means you have supplementary real-estate for text on websites, for multiple manuscripts on the screen at the same time, or for a more "full-screen" view of HD movies that have been filmed in 16:9 format. The lustrous metallic gray and silver "Imprint" terminate looks implausible.

Performance
The Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor in our evaluation unit offered sufficient processing power and never offered any problems when sprinting applications or encoding video and audio files.
Recital with the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor and NVIDIA 9600M-GT graphics accelerator card was outstanding. Bottom line, this appliance is tremendously speedy. You would naturally require purchasing a high-performance gaming laptop to reach these levels of presentation. This fresh HP was completely able to grip any software we experienced, and even put up "sensible" numbers with 3D games that habitually don't perform well on laptops, such as Crysis.

Of course, with a laptop that tips the scales at almost 9 pounds ... this creature better endow with close to the identical presentation you expect from a desktop. Let's obtain a gaze at a few basic benchmarks so you can get an design of how the Pavilion HDX18 heaps up.

WPrime is a program that energies the processor to do recursive arithmetical calculations, this processor benchmark agenda is multi-threaded and can use metalize processor cores at once, it measures the quantity of time to run a set amount of computations. The keyboard on the HDX18 was quite inspiring in that it has completely no flex over the main keyboard. The enthusiastic number pad does experience from some flex unswervingly above the optical drive, but that shouldn't be a predicament for most people except you're continuously using the number pad for data entry.

Overall
While the HDX18 is better ensemble as a desktop substitute than as a notebook, the laptop is quite well poised when using it on your lap. Just be attentive that after using the HDX18 on your lap for about an hour and a half you may start to be unable to find some feeling in your legs. This appliance is really more like an 18-inch HDTV with a built-in computer.

Pros
+ Amazing Performance;
+ Great Graphics

Cons

- Bulky in built.
- Heat Dissipation could have been in a better way.

HP PAVILION DV4T REVIEW

HP Pavilion dv4t walks tall as a performer

HP Pavilion dv4tThe 14-inch HP Pavilion dv4t is consumer laptop proffering a wide array of multimedia characteristics at an unassuming starting price of $599. With traits that cover from built-in Verizon or AT&T WWAN, a Blu-ray media drive, and even an in-house TV-tuner this laptop has the aptitude to be the core of any home or dorm entertainment system.

Design
Intend of the HP dv4 has the similar profoundly chromed accents just like the dv5 and novel HDX replicas. I believe that HP went somewhat overboard with the employ of shiny surfaces and in some cases you end up being fissured by a number of things. When using the laptop outside on a sunlit day, the touchpad, speaker grills, media access keys, or even the palm rest spruce could blind you if the sun hits it just right.

Performance
System performance with the chipset 2.8GHz Intel T9600 Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of system memory, and NVIDIA 9200M GS devoted graphics is outstanding. Day-to-day claims scream, more often than not associated to the top-of-the-line processor. The NVIDIA 9200M GS graphics card doesn’t assist much for playing contemporary games, but it does assist offload processing power when decoding Blu-ray movies. In all but film encoding the processor in our evaluation copy would be left unused, and a slower processor could have in all probability done just fine. To go from the pedestal 2.0GHz T5800 processor to the T9600 is$550 promote that could be well again spent on a quicker hard drive or even a docking station with money to standby.

The on the bus speakers depart much to be beloved with a clanging sound at reasonable volume level. Both bass and midrange were missing, and at elevated volume levels the speakers hazy quite a bit. Thermal recital of the HP dv4t’s cooling arrangement was standard, with hardly any hot spots forming even with a cooling fan that was perceptible from across the room. Upper laptop temperatures were kept in ensure, leaving the palm rest in the 81-91 degrees Fahrenheit range even beneath load.

Battery life is standard with the high competence 6-cell battery. With the “HP optional” power profile facilitated, wireless on and active, and screen brilliantness set to 60 percent the system squealed by with 3 hours and 24 minutes of runtime before it his 5 percent and required to blackout.

Overall
The HP Pavilion dv4t labors well as a media center for a home theater, as well as a movable workhorse for lugging to school or traveling. Port assortment is implausible, and with the resident docking station relationship you can fasten even more appliances. The “Smart Bay” detachable storage expansion drive worked fighting fit when you required more storage space as an alternative of an optical drive.

Pros
+ Extroverted port selection,
+ Consumer-swappable media bay,
+ Native docking station association.

Cons
- Very expensive depending on what alternatives you construct the laptop with,
- Super thoughtful laptop that sources lots of frown.

HP PAVILION TX2500 REVIEW

HP Pavilion tx2500 – A worthy update courtesy AMD Puma

The HP Pavilion tx2500 is the much required modernize to the tx2000 Tablet PC. That's right; the tx2500 has an efficient processor and graphics. HP to end with have answered our prayers and supplemented the new-fangled AMD Puma processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 incorporated graphics into the identical great design. So let's see how much enhanced it performs.

Design
The tx2500 has a rock-hard framework and intend. The overall intend is the identical as the tx2000, with the lustrous "Echo" imprint finish which extends onto the silver keyboard. It has an extremely sleek exterior, but be cautious it is a fingerprint enticer. Weighing in around 4.5 pounds the tx2500 is ideal for students. It gets a bit heavy to clutch around in tablet mode all day, but it's enormous for sitting on your desk and captivating notes and you can always surrogate in the weight saver if you don't necessitate the optical drive.

Performance
The tx2500 captures the new-fangled AMD "Puma" display place which contains mutually the modernized Turion X2 Ultra dual-core processor and the all fresh ATI Radeon HD 3200 incorporated graphics processor (IGP). The Radeon HD 3200 is a significant IGP for the reason that it is the 1st incorporated graphics elucidation that is authentically competent of playing 1080p video without skipping frames or playing many 3D video games with rational frame rates. While most tablets with incorporated graphics manufacture a 3DMark05 score of less than 1,000 the HD 3200 IGP is hypothetically capable of 2 or 3 times that level of presentation.

There is plethora of multimedia buttons for watching DVDs, listening to music or screening your photos. There is even a non-compulsory Web cam, which makes this tablet grand for chatting with friends over the Web, particularly with the efficiency that comes pimped in with the new-fangled Puma processor. It converts into tablet mode with effortlessness and when in tablet mode the speakers are still easy to get to, a definite additional benefit

Overall
Overall I am overwhelmed with the tx2500. The efficient AMD Puma processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics are a huge plus. Web pages deliver quicker and surfing the Web is a puff of air. Even though our tx2500 had a few issues with the incorporated graphics it still performed enhanced than the majority of tablets on the market now and we are conveying it back to HP to fasten it. College students and supplementary consumers should be pleased with all the features the tx2500 packs, particularly considering it exists for under $1,000.
