HP UPDATES THE PAVILION DV7T SERIES ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK

HP has announced without any fanfare its new updated dv7t entertainment notebook. This updated version has new colors and a bigger display. The new dv7t has a 17.3-inch 1600 x 900 widescreen BrightView LCD display as opposed to its original 17-inch, and is available in black and white. The new updated Pavilion dv7t notebook series can be customized by Intel processor of up to Core 2 Quad Q9000 2GHz quad-core processor, up to 8GB of DDR2 memory and up to 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 graphic card quad-core version.

The dv7t entertainment notebook has a choice of dual 500GB hard drive for media files,an optional HDTV Hybrid tuner and includes Ethernet LAN, webcam, Bluetooth and fingerprint reader. You are also presented with optical drive options that includes a Lightscribe Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW double layer. DELL UNVEILS STUDIO XPS 1340 AND STUDIO XPS 1640 – PREMIUM ENTERTAINMENT

HP PAVILION HDX ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC REVIEW

Introduction
This is an entertainment laptop which uses the Intel Santa Rosa platform. This beast is equipped with a 20-inch widescreen, ATI HD2600 XT graphics card, HD DVD optical drive, integrated HDTV tuner, and integrated web-camera.

Design
The laptop is overall glossy colored in black and silver. This laptop is quite breathtaking with the 20-inch widescreen and the beautiful design. This laptop also features a dual-hinge display. Rather than opening with a single large hinge at the back of the notebook, the 20.1" display swings open with a center-mounted rear hinge and is further adjustable with a second hinge at the back of the display allowing you to turn the screen as much as you want for the perfect viewing angle.

With this laptop you also get a real full size keyboard with dedicated number pads. Above they keyboard you will find plenty of touch sensitive keys which works as a media center. The laptop is solid overall with the touch pad and they keyboard in a good place. However the palmrest temperature can get a little bit “hot” after a few hours of playing games or chatting. To the left of they keyboard you will find a media center remote control. Here you can control the volume, play, pause etc.


Screen
The 20.1" WSXGA+ display on the HDX is of excellent quality and with a max resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. This screen works also great if you watch it in horizontal and vertical viewing angles. This is what makes it so good for many people to watch a movie on the laptop at one time. And if you get any reflections from the glossy screen you can simply just turn the screen around. The screen is overall good with no weaknesses as far as I can see.

Performance
What would a laptop of this size be if the performance was not there? Overall the performance is very good for a multimedia laptop like this. This laptop come with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.4GHz), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT (256MB) and 4GB DDR2 system memory. As you see there is not a lack of performance in this beast and you will have good FPS on most games. On the benchmarks we got 4201 points on 3DMark 06 and 9046 points on 3dMark 05.

Conclusion
This is one of the best multimedia / entertainment systems of 2007. With the 20-inch screen and a powerful performance this laptop will reach a long way into 2008.

HP launched its latest entertainment notebook LAST week, the Santa Rosa platform based Pavilion dv6700t. This notebook features the Intel Core 2 Duo T5700 along with Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS 256MB video processor. The system memory is up to 4GB with a hard drive of 250GB and features a DVD burner, HD DVD ROM and Blu-ray ROM. It has an in built ExpressCard TV Tuner, a fingerprint reader and optional broadband wireless Verizon Express Card along with 56K modem and a 5 in 1 media card reader. The minimum weight of this notebook is 6.14 lbs and comes with Windows Vista OS at $700 starting price.
