Chinese PC maker Hasee has launched two thin and light laptops dubbed UV20-S17 and UV20-S23. These notebooks feature Intel’s CULV processors. Hasee has already built some netbooks with Atom processors. But this is the first time the company has forayed into the CULV segment.

Both models have Intel CULV processors and integrated Intel GMA X4500 MHD graphics. While the UV20-S17 has a 1.3 GHz Intel Celeron 743 single core processor and 160GB of RAM, the other model UV20-S23 has a faster 1.2 GHz Intel Celeron SU2300 processor and 250GB hard drive. COLORFUL S101 NEWYORK: ANOTHER NETBOOK FROM CHINA

The Colorful S101 NewYork is a netbook from a Chinese PC maker. Contrary to what the name may indicate the device has no association with New York.

The netbook doesn’t have any particularly impressive specifications. It runs on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor with 160GB hard drive and up to 2GB of RAM.
Notable features of the device include an accelerometer and software that will rotate the display when you hold the netbook on its side. The machine isn’t very slim or light, but it is still portable. The 10 inch display features 600x1024 pixels. The S101 is not a dedicated eBook reader like Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader, but it can still be used for viewing websites.

The accelerometer provides some sort of shock protection for the hard drive. It will shut down the hard drive temporarily in the event of its getting dropped off a desk.

The standard storage option is a 160GB hard drive. The machine weighs 2.6kg with the 3-cell battery. Other notable features include WiFi 802.11b/g/n.

HP MINI 5101 CLONED IN CHINA

It seems that Chinese PC makers are busy cloning western netbooks and making them larger in China. The Phecda device is expected to be sold for around $300, whereas the HP Mini 5101 starts at $400. What about the specs? Well, the HP Mini 5101 indeed has meatier specifications including a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, 2 Mega Pixel webcam and a 7200rpm hard drive. HP also offers the option of a 55WHr battery with Mini 5101.
