Viewsonic has launched a new CULV notebook with a 13.3 inch display. A novel feature of this device is that it can house a second battery in the optical drive slot.
The ViewBook Pro as the device is called runs on an Intel Core 2 SU7300 processor with 2GB of RAM and Windows 7 OS. The RAM is upgradable to 4GB. The chassis is built of thin aluminum. The regular battery is expected to give up to 8 hours of battery life. If you need more juice, you can house a second battery in the optical drive slot and you should be able to get up to 12 hours. If portability is your main concern, you can opt for a model with neither the second battery nor the optical drive and you will be able to save some weight.
The device is available in two models. The silver model (ViewBook Pro S) is available with a DVD burner for $1099. The black model (ViewBook Pro B) is available without an optical drive for $999. The notebooks will be available from next month.
