DOSPARA ADDS BLU-RAY TO ITS PRIME NOTE CRESION NA 12.1 INCH NETBOOK


DosPara has managed to add a Blu-ray drive to its Prime Note Cresion NA 12.1 inch netbook. The machine announced in June already had enticing specifications. It runs on the Ion platform with a dual core Atom 330 processor. Up to 2GB of RAM can be installed on this netbook. The maximum storage capacity is 320GB.

With its 12.1 inch display the Prime Note Cresion is larger than conventional netbooks. Other features include Wi-Fi (Draft-N), Bluetooth 2.1 and HDMI out. The display has a resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

The Blu-ray version will cost $752 as against the previous version that cost $611. The new models have started shipping.

TOSHIBA P500 TO HAVE BLU-RAY


The Toshiba Satellite P500 will be available from October. This multimedia PC has an 18.4 inch LCD display with 1920x1080p resolution. A cool addition to this notebook is the Blu-ray drive which is seldom seen on Toshiba notebooks.

The P500 runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB of DDR memory. The maximum hard drive capacity is 500GB. As this is a multimedia PC, there is a NVIDIA discrete graphics card. Other features include 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 eSATA/USB combo port, HDMI REGZA, a 5-in-1 card reader, Express Card slot, FireWire and integrated Harman Kardon speakers. For connectivity there is Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.

ACER INTRODUCES BLU-RAY LAPTOPS

With the death of HD DVD laptops, the companies have decided to build in new kind of laptops for the next season. While other companies are just thinking about it, Acer is out with its announcement of letting Blu-ray laptops for the year. The company anticipates the sale of Blu-ray devices in laptops will boom better than the standalone pieces. Acer is out with the next quarter of the year too. Scott Lin, president of Acer, announced the plan to launch BD-capable notebooks in that latter part of the year. Acer is well known for competitiveness and competencies. It is proving its worth every year and Blu-ray laptops are just examples.

BLU-RAY VS. HD FORMAT

HD was first to arrive in the market with a bang and people were highly satisfied with the amazing picture quality offered. After stage Blu-ray arrived again with a great bang, however too many people knew what exactly Blu-ray is. Then people started known the importance of it and the battle between these two became stiff. With the improved technology gaming consoles and televisions are now capable to provide you either blu-ray or HD format for your convenience. So who is wins the war? In fact the sales among these two were very close in Europe. HD format tend to break 1 million sales and 73% of it are HD movie.

In addition we need consider PS3 number of disc sales for Blu-ray and other blu-ray discs. When we combine both together then blu-ray format actually have reached about 21 million sales. On the other hand, blu-ray movies as well became more widely accepted than HD movies. Latter may be expensive but its features have really attracted people and felt each penny spent on it is worth. We have been talking about the sales that took place only in Europe. Soon we will be reviewing information on how they are performance around United States or any other part of the globe.

MSI LOOKING TO SWITCH TO BLU-RAY ONLY

Micro-Star International (MSI) – a leading computer parts manufacturer – believes that more and more laptops will be built with Blu-ray drives. Top manufacturers that include Dell, HP, and Acer offer Blu-ray drive as an option in most of the higher end laptops.

If this happens we can expect to see Blu-ray technology become more mainstream and prices will hopefully drop. Sony has announced that they are creating a smaller laser diode – which will increase competition among manufacturers and speed along any price reductions.

For now MSI offers HD DVD and Blu-ray drives for their laptops – but have hinted at only building them with Blu-ray drives. Though when we will see this change we don’t know.

PANASONIC CREATES 9.5MM BLU-RAY DRIVE

Panasonic is proud of their new accomplishment – the 9.5mm Blu-ray drive that is thinner and lighter than most models out on the market. They have stated that these new drives will be shipped all across the world and will be available for laptops everywhere.
