MSI LOOKING TO SWITCH TO BLU-RAY ONLY

Micro-Star International (MSI) – a leading computer parts manufacturer – believes that more and more laptops will be built with Blu-ray drives. Top manufacturers that include Dell, HP, and Acer offer Blu-ray drive as an option in most of the higher end laptops.

If this happens we can expect to see Blu-ray technology become more mainstream and prices will hopefully drop. Sony has announced that they are creating a smaller laser diode – which will increase competition among manufacturers and speed along any price reductions.

For now MSI offers HD DVD and Blu-ray drives for their laptops – but have hinted at only building them with Blu-ray drives. Though when we will see this change we don’t know.
