GATEWAY MD 7820 QUICK REVIEW

The new gateway to designing revolution - The Gateway MD 7820 U

This is one of those laptops in which the manufacturers have paid attention to slightest details from user’s point of view. It is not one of those machines, which may look awesome in the advertisement but disappoints when seen in person physically. There are several options available in terms of colors that the users can choose from. It is considered one of the most functional machines available which serves the unique requirements for its users.

The gateway has a 16.9’ widescreen display which is ideal especially while running the multi media applications like movies, games etc. There is appropriate and even lighting on the entire screen including the edges. The notebook works on the Windows Vista Premium operating system, which is a standard feature and comes in preloaded, although the users might be required to customize some of the settings before actually using for the first time.

The major drawback in the note book is its keyboard. It is the weakling in this other wise pretty standard and user friendly machine. There are touch sensitive buttons available to access the media options on the right side of the keyboard. The touch pad available is very large, almost to the extent of being close to the entire width of the screen. It at times looks a bit awkward especially for people who are not very comfortable with large sized touchpad at it can hinder free movement of the hand while typing.

There are a lot of applications which come preloaded in the system. Users can choose the applications that they wish to use and have the option of removing or uninstalling the not to be used applications. The systems camera software pops up on the screens as soon as the cursor is moved to the edge of the screen. The inbuilt 1.3 mega pixel camera comes in very handy when it comes to taking pictures or video conferencing.

The Gateway has a couple of speakers and a built in mic on the front side, although the sound quality is quite low and not clear. Has a good battery life with considerable time is spent away from the main supply station, thus ensuring peace of mind and functionality especially for people on the go.

It works with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400 which is quite responsive and fast. Has 320 GB hard drive with 4 GB system memory. Over all it is a physically appealing and better performing notebook with the exception of the disappointing and poor keyboard touchpad layout.

Price: Approx. $450

GATEWAY UNVEILS 14-INCH LAPTOP SYSTEMS

Forgive us if we get too excited over this announcement, but if you haven't noticed, we have been deprived of proper laptop news thanks in part to the advent of netbooks. So please understand why we would get hyper over a 14-inch netbook with integrated graphics (9300) and 1.5 inches thick.

Yeah we're not sure what makes it so great seeing that it starts at $649.99 and weighs 5.3 pounds. But at least it beats all the netbook news we've been hearing.

As for the rest of the specs: the model will come in 14 and 15 inch flavors (TC7306u and TC7307u respectively). A 1.3 megapixel webcam is included as well as standard Ethernet, Wi-Fi 1366 x 768 resolution panel, built-in multicard reader, 3x USB 2.0 ports and Intel's Core 2 Due processor along with dual-layer DVD and 6-cell battery.

As we said, not too impressive but than again its meant to fit the spot between an ultra portable and a full 15-inch notebook.....if there is even such a category.

GATEWAY NETBOOK HITS SINGAPORE

Its not like every single company has already released or is planning on releasing a netbook. Heck even Sony who for months has said it was not interested has recently been spotted sending one of their soon to be released netbooks through the paces at the FCC.

Gateway has just released the top selling netbook in the world in Singapore (re badged of course). Meet the LT1001G: an Acer Aspire One model with a Gateway badge. Under the hood you'll find the usual 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD and a retail price for $688 Singapore dollars which works out to roughly $458USD.

The model is also being released with a few other notebooks to help Gateway get back into the Singapore market after they left eight years ago. Hopefully they'll succeed but something tells me they'll need a little more than an Aspire One re badged machine to do the trick.

GATEWAY C-142XL REVIEW

Gateway spells loads of class with C-142XL

Tablets are characteristically ultra-mobile units that can be detained effortlessly in the lawbreaker of an arm, but that’s not the casing with the C-142XL. This revise to Gateway’s 14.1-inch translatable is proposed for the edification market and consumers seeking for a pen-capable laptop. And it’s intended for those who akin to the idea of captivating digital notes and don’t intellect leaning the system adjacent to a desk while functioning. With a speedy dual-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and distinct graphics, it’s paramount to think of the C-142XL as a full-feathered laptop with tablet functionality as an additional benefit.

Design
At 13.6 x 10.5 x 1.3 inches, the C-142XL is too stocky for our tastes and best suited for a counter than a tray table. Weighing almost 7 pounds—two times the weight of most tablet PCs—the complete-matte, black Gateway C-142XL is as grave as it seems and requires 2 hands to port it around. The system acquires most of its restraint from its protruding rubberized, 8-cell battery; the hump-shaped battery power pack props up the system for additional ergonomic typing but at the expenditure of adding another pound. According to Gateway, the bulge came at the demand of students who were utilizing books to prop up tablets in the classroom.

Performance
An influential 2.4-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor and 3GB of RAM (stretchy to 4GB) make the C-142XL an extremely competent Vista notebook. The system’s Mobile Mark 2007 gains of 162 is about 15 points on top of the average for a conventional system, and its PC Mark Vantage gain of 3,401 is about 150 points higher than average. We should note down that for the reason that it has only a 14.1-inch screen but still weighs more than 6 pounds, it straddles the conventional and thin-and-light categories.

The C-142XL has a passive touch screen flaunt that recognizes only entry of a stylus. The screen had no complexity responding to the incorporated Wacom artificial stylus, or to other plastic styli for that matter.

We treasured the display orientation button on the bezel, since the point of reference doesn’t robotically rotate when you revolve the display, as well as the 3 other configurable quick-launch buttons and a 4-way d-pad. We just desire the C-142XL had a spool wheel for moving through extended documents or Web sites.

Conclusion
For a tag of $1,299, the Gateway C-142XL serves high-quality tablet performance and the whole thing you would be expecting from an all-purpose laptop, together with a DVD burner, plethora of ports, rock-hard processing power, and long battery life. Consumers seeking for a more mobile changeable should deem the HP Pavilion tx2000, which has a less significant 12.1-inch exhibit but is receptive to finger touch.

Pros
+ Silky tablet experience
+ Rock-hard battery life
+ Hard-wearing design

Cons
- Weighty
- USB ports too secure together
- No webcam

Powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo processors, copiousness of RAM and huge-capacity hard drives, these budget laptops are definitely attractive to many consumers seeking for a transportable multimedia center for carrying movies, music and digital pictures on the go.

Design
The T-6828 captures an outstanding all innovative design zapped with a "Garnet Red" conclude that strikes plausibly durable and eye-catching at the same time. The key framework elements of this attention-grabbing design are chunky plastics and metal enunciations. Incorporated above the laptop's keyboard is a brushed-finish metal loaded with multimedia control panel, Show casing smooth-cut keys in a "tooth" outline and a touch-sensitive sound alteration.

Performance
Gateway choose to present the T-series in a variety of configurations pivoted in the region of the Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 (1.83GHz) processor. While the T5550 with its 2MB of L2 cache and 667MHz front side bus serves outstanding presentation for an entry-level purchaser laptop, it would have been pleasant to have quicker processors with twofold the cache and 800MHz front side bus as an alternative for people who require quicker multimedia indoctrination or image bowdlerization. The Intel X3100 incorporated graphics with up to 384MB of energetically billed mutual memory captures sufficient video horsepower for a usual punter unit. The most important advantage of incorporated graphics is complete battery life and abridged heat.

Although the 1280x800 declaration flaunt on the T-6828 is far distanced from 1080p high definition, the display provides rich colors, outstanding clarity and high-quality brightness. There were completely no hassles with the display on our review Machine. The incorporated 1.3 mega pixel web cam on the T-6828 is a pleasant feature with varied presentation. The keyboard on the T-6828 was a greeting development over the majority keyboards we see on punter laptops. The touchpad was receptive with a pleasant feel and felt hard-wearing. Battery life on the unit was slightly above average, Thanks to the 6-cell power pack.

Conclusion
The Gateway T-6828 is a solid laptop with abundance of power for day by day usage. The low price, considerable hard drive, sensibly good quality battery life, and moderately cool temperatures help compile the T-6828 a real value for money.

Pros
+ High-quality performance for daily use
+ Hard, fashionable construction
+ Negligible heat and noise
+ Practically low price

Cons
- Lustrous plastics around display.
- Deprived screening angles on screen

GATEWAY M-152XL REVIEW - THE COMPRESSED MULTIMEDIA MOTIVATING FORCE

The Gateway M-152XL is a compressed multimedia motivating force aimed unswervingly at the Toshiba A305, HP Pavillion dv6700, or Dell M1530. Each of these laptops proffers the same indispensable features. So how healthy does the Gateway pile up to the rest? Examine on to find out.

Design
The Gateway M-152XL has an extremely trendy design with lustrous metallic blue paint contrasting the brushed aluminum spruce around the casing of the laptop as well as the keyboard. The optical drive, subsequent the smooth and modish theme is niche loading, just like the Dell M1530 or Apple laptop line. Build quality is higher than average with a hard-wearing framework that feels pretty rock-hard in your hand. The plastic is sturdy, flexing little under constant worry and producing no squeaks when tossed roughly.

Performance
The on the whole system recital of the Gateway M-152XL laptop is outstanding, with its Intel Penryn T8300 processor and ATI Mobility HD2600 graphics accelerator card. This amalgamation provides you abundance of performance to play most up to date games even on standard settings, and more than adequate power for day to day tasks. The 7200rpm Seagate hard disk memory drive helped load media applications like the Windows Media Center devoid of holdup, and gave the laptop a very snappy feel when just tooling roughly. In comparison to the other laptops in this price sector, the Gateway M-152XL clearly leads the crowd in on the whole system recital from what we have witnessed in our testing.

Display eminence is run of the mill, with an awfully constricted viewing perspective which can make enjoying a movie or game thorny until you hit upon a sweet spot. The keyboard on the Gateway M-152XL laptop was very nice, with a very rock-hard sense when typing. Thermal presentation of this laptop was brilliant, in commission at surreptitiousness decibel levels during for the most part of activities, and placidly ramping up in momentum under benchmarks.
