HI-GRADE NOTINO WITH THE NEW SPEC D7000

Scratching the right balance of power, affordability and features can be a tricky business. The Hi-Grade, which has the same base specs as the Zoostorm 53-7701 a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor, 2GB of DDR RAM and a 160GB hard drive. These are impressive figures, but the Notebook fared considerably lesser than the Zoostorm in real-time processing-speed tests. On the other side, it performed well in battery-life testing, managing an impressive 131 minutes.
Graphics is taken care by an Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 graphics card with dedicated memory of 256MB. The D7000's handling of Doom3 gaming tests was rather disappointing - it struggled to keep up with high levels of detail.

Featuring 4 USB ports, mini-FireWire, S-video network, DVI and memory card slots, the Hi-Grade has a reasonable range of connectivity options. The card reader supports Secure Digital, MMC, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro. Wi-Fi facilities are designed for 802.11b and g networks.

The keyboard is easy to use, although the small track pad is a let down. Convenient inclusions like the five shortcut buttons at the top left of the keyboard, which allow you to instantly access applications such as Outlook, are well thought.

Weighing at just 2.8kg, the Notino is portable and ideally suited to business group of users. But it would not be a first choice for running high-end graphics applications or games because of its slightly disappointing 15.4in WXGA widescreen display.
