VIA RELEASES UPDATED NANO PROCESSORS


VIA has updated its line of low power Nano processors. The new Nano 3000 chips come with a 64-bit architecture and run between 1GHz and 2GHz. VIA claims that the new chips are capable of decoding 1080p HD video content.

According to VIA, the new chips deliver 20% better performance than the previous versions in the PCMark 05 and 3Dmark 2006 benchmarks. In the same tests, the Nano 3000 processors also outperform the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processors by about 40% to 50%. The new chips are also more power efficient: they consume 20% less power.

The VIA Nano 3000 series consists of 6 models. The chips are compatible with motherboards designed for VIA C7, C7-M, Eden, and earlier Nano processors.

SONY VAIO VGN-G3 SERIES – VAIO G UPDATED


Sony has updated its long forgotten VAIO G model to not one but four new models as Sony VAIO G3 series. The VAIO G hit it off with a bang when it was released in the late 2006 with its cool features, weighing just about 898 grams and claimed 13 hours of battery life.

The first model of the G3 series, the VAIO VGN-G3KANB is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 1.2GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 120GB HDD, DDR3 1066MHz memory, Intel GMA X4500HD graphics, an integrated wireless 802.11 b/g/n. It also includes a Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Memory Stick and SD memory card and a biometric fingerprint scanner. The Sony VAIO G3 has a 12.1-inch widescreen LCD display with the same 4:3 aspect ratio, 1024 x 768 resolution and LED backlighting.

The other three models have the following specifications.
Sony VAIO VGN-G3AAPVSA with Core 2 Duo SU9400 1.4Ghz, 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD, DVD Burner.
Sony VAIO VGN-G3AAPSA with Core 2 Duo SU9400 1.4Ghz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, DVD Burner.
Sony VAIO VGN-G3AAPSC with Core 2 Duo SU9400 1.4Ghz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD.

Sony has announced this new series in Japan and was not clear about its release elsewhere. Moreover there is no word on the pricing of the VAIO G3 series or its release date yet.

Now, there's a fresh burst of rumor that the touch screen panel makers are indeed manufacturing a high tech resistive touch panel for next-generation EEE PCs. prelude reports suggest that such touch screen loaded EEE PCs are scheduled to be liberated in the 2nd quarter of 2008.
