PHECDA RELEASES NETBOOK WITH VIA PROCESSOR

Prior to the arrival of Intel’s Atom processors, VIA did enjoy some success with low-cost laptops. The company shipped in a handful of HP Mini models. But then Intel’s cheap and power efficient Atom processors arrived and VIA had to concede its market share to its more powerful rival.

But now Phecda has released a netbook with a VIA processor. The PHV102, as it is called, has the regular netbook specs. It features a VIA 1.6GHz C7-M processor, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM and a 160 GB SATA hard drive. It has a 10.2 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixels and a three-cell 200mAh battery. But still you can’t write it off as just another netbook.

The reason is the PHV102 will have the Black Friday price all the time. It will sell for an estimated $185 on every day of the year. Competition has always been good for the market so don’t be surprised if you see netbooks getting even cheaper.

WIND SWANKS NEW ATTEMPT WITH THE ATOM PROCESSOR

Wrapping the most recent 1.6-GHz Atom processor and a spacious 80-GB drive, the Wind swanks some legit PC creed. Yes, your iPod almost certainly has additional drive space, but the Wind is also sprinting good old Windows XP, saving you from the annoyances of Vista, a Linux studying curve or (pass away the thought) the pathetically underpowered Win CE. The 10-inch widescreen can exhibit the majority fixed-width web pages contentedly, and it requires the extra-wide bezels that make other Netbook displays feel less significant than they essentially are. Of course, it's not just the thing. We would have appreciated to glimpse a DVD burner incorporated and with all its ports, a mini FireWire would be greeted.

AMD FAMILY SPREADS - TURION ULTRA PROCESSOR A NEW GENERATION UPGRADE

The Turion Ultra is the 1st processor AMD has considered exclusively for the mobile market; former Turions were essentially Athlon 64s and Athlon 64 X2s with thermal characteristics superior enough to make it in notebooks. Yet the Turion Ultra, while its cores are essentially unaffected from desktop Athlon 64 X2s, has inherited a few architectural refinements from AMD's Phenom processors, together with Hyper Transport 3.0. Furthermore, the Turion Ultra proffers finer grained clock rate control as well as tolerating it to clock the cores separately of one another. It's also capable to animatedly scale the Hyper Transport as required, resulting in a processor that can act in response specifically as required to workloads.

More enhancements comprise an augment of processor cache from 1MB of L2 cache to 2MB (L2 cache is essentially RAM built onto a processor) and hold up for up to DDR2-800. By themselves, these may not affix up too much, but while memory velocity has historically been for the most part insignificant to Intel's Core processors, it has had an additional quantifiable collision on AMD's dual cores. Regrettably, the TDP (Thermal Design Power) hasn't distorted from presented Turions: the Turion Ultra's arrangement tops out at 35W, precisely the same wattage as its predecessors and accurately the same wattage as its Intel opposition, though it bears declaring Intel and AMD measure TDP in a different way. Given the enhanced power-saving characteristics, the Turion Ultra ought to offer at least slightly superior battery life to on hand Turion X2s, but it may not be competent to compete with Intel's Core 2 Duos in recital or battery life. Still, it's an enhancement in an era where CPU power is already at a coarse excess.

MEANS TO AVOID NEEDLESS POWER USAGE OF PROCESSOR AND VIDEO CARD

Disable all needless programs, which run in the backdrop. Also minute tools in the task bar time and again need some percent of concert.

Decrease the flaunt brightness: Decrease the screen brightness as low as possible and still a pleasing working is probable. Good contemporary displays show clarity of over 150cd/m². If one does not use the notebook outside in fresh air or direct sunshine the intensity can be reverted back to 100cd/m². This can bank some watts. With the most recent tested mobile computer we could gauge a difference of 10 watts flanked by minimum and maximum intensity!
Enable current saving function: Current mobile video cards got individual current optimizing functions implemented. So one can border the performance, but also pin down the current need. Commanding graphic cards like NVidia go 7800gtx or ATI Radeon Mobility X800 require very high power. ATI names the current savings tasks "Power play" and boasts the battery overall runtime with the setting "optimal battery life" (about 4 watts of savings is possible when a system is coupled with a ATI X700). With NVidia graphics cards that cater to the same function is called "Powermizer".

Disable LAN and Bluetooth connectivity: If you do not require incorporated functions such as Wireless LAN, Bluetooth or infrared, twirl these functions to off condition (best by presented hardware switches) for contemporary current saving saving.

DELL NO LONGER WITH AMD PROCESSOR?

Recently there has been a report that Dell would no longer be selling AMD processor-based system on Dell.com. However, this is actually untrue and both Dell and AMD would like to make sure that their customer knows about it. Dell is still with AMD and enjoying the strong partnership and it is not a hard fact that AMD is satisfied with the development slope experienced at Dell. They clearly indicated that there is been significant growth chances in retail with AMD and in a course of reallocating its product-mix done from time-to-time. Additionally, we can find numerous AMD-based processor such as Dell Inspiron 1501 and Vostro 1000 available in the market. The relationship continues and probably to hold on for a long time!
