MSI has officially announced the U115 Hybrid Netbook. The hybrid part refers to a dual hard drive, both SSD and HDD. The MSI U115 Hybrid will be the first notebook to use both these drives simultaneously. The 8GB solid state drive will improve the performance while the 160GB HDD will serve as a mass storage, perfect mix for an extreme performance. According to MSI the SSD system is much faster and takes up less power than the HDD while retrieving files and has better shock resistant while on the go.
Other specifications of U115 Hybrid include Intel Atom Processor Z530 1.60GHz, Windows XP Home, Intel Poulsbo US15W, Up to 2GB DDR2 RAM, 10" 1024x600 LCD Panel, 4 in 1 Card Reader, 1.3 or 2.0 MP Webcam, 3 USB 2.0 , 3 / 6 cell battery, Bluetooth and weighs about 1Kg and there is still no word about the pricing. The U115 Hybrid also has an ECO mode that will temporarily disconnect the HDD when not in use and will extend the life of the battery. MSI has promised a super long battery life and if it comes to be true this Hybrid will be on top of the most wanted list.
