Introduction
This is one of the best performance business laptops from HP and the price is around 1300 Euro. We took a closer look at this high performance business laptop.
Design
Even though the 8710p is a business laptop it still weights 3.4kg which is not very a very attractive feature for a businessman. The thickness and dimensions are about average for a 17-incher as this. Once you see this laptop you can see from your eyes that it is solid and not a toy, so you can get through a hard day at work without destroying your laptop. The keyboard on the8710p is very big, it’s a full sized keyboard were you even can fir the number pad. If you have small hands you could get some problems with the huge keyboard. The touchpad works however very good and there are 3 buttons under it where the middle buttons can be use for scrolling pretty much as a mouse wheel. Above they keyboard you will also find many touch sensitive buttons that can be programmed for different functions.
Screen
The screen is a 17-inch widescreen and runs at a 1680 x 1050 resolution. Since this is meant for a business man you can of course choose if you want the matte or glossy version. No matter what you choose the image quality is excellent and you can look at it from all kinds of angles.
Performance and features
There is no lack of power in this machine that’s for sure. The 8710p comes with a powerful Core 2 Duo processor (T7300-T7800) and a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 320M video card. The specs are stunning for a business laptop and this video card is far better then the Geforce 8600GT. Even though this is not a gaming laptop the performance of this bad boy is better then many gaming laptops on the market. After running a few tests we found out that it is almost as fast as Alienware Aurora m9700 SLI Notebook. We got 4801 3Dmarks on 3Dmark06 and 124 average FPS on Doom 3 with ultra high settings. There is also available up to 250GB storage space. However the hard disk tends to get a little bit noisy when used hard.
This amazing business laptop also comes with many good features like Intel's WiFi Link 4965AGN module which caters for 802.11a, b, g and Draft-N connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet networking, 6 USB ports, HDMI port and a VGA-out connector, along with a FireWire port.
Conclusion
A very good laptop, but is it really best for the gamer or the businessman? The laptop is very heavy, something a businessman would not like. However the laptop works wonderful on the newest games with an excellent performance. This is certainly the best business laptop you can play games on.
Pros
+ Excellent performance
+ Good battery life
+ Great display
Cons
- Unportable for a business man
Value For Money
