A blend of an awesome price tag, decent performance and a plethora of features, this notebook from Acer is a sure shot winner.Design
The notebook is a silver-black case which delivers a good impression on the buyer. On opening the lid, you encounter a 14.1” widescreen which is capable of supporting a maximum resolution of 1280x800. It has a matte finish, which makes regular work easy , but the experience while watching movies or playing games was not so good. The keyboard deserves a special mention here, with an ergonomic shape in the form of a smiley, it had a good response and feel. There is a 5-in-1 card slot and an Express-Card slot on the left side of the product, along with a USB port and a S-Video port. The rear has the Ethernet port and more USB ports. The absence of a DVD-writer can be attributed to the low cost of the laptop.
Performance
The laptop has an average configuration of 1.6Mhz Celeron-M processor, and it did not perform too well on PCMark05. Most business application would run smoothly but multi-tasking might be a bit problematic owing to the low-end processor. 512MB DDR2 RAM, 80GB HDD complete its basic set of components and the configuration is not something worth buying the laptop for. The battery life is good enough and should last around 2.5 hours while doing normal chores.
Conclusion
The laptop should be a good option for students and light users and the price tag is definitely great for this class. The battery life is great and the amount of connectivity options provided is a definite plus!
Pros
+ Very competitive pricing
+ Good battery life
Cons
- Average performance
- Poor screen
