DON'T BLAME THE LAPTOP BATTERY

In today’s ever changing world of technology a large majority of things we use such as cell phones, power tools, mini DVD players, and many others are powered by batteries. One of our most powerful tools battery powered would be our laptop. Many of these items have to often have the batteries replaced due to misuse or incorrect cycling of the battery.

Laptop batteries are no exception to the rule, fully charge the battery and fully discharge the battery about every thirty cycles. When speaking in terms of battery cycles, this is to say, starting with a new battery that is not charged and fully charging the battery for the manufacturers recommended length of time. To complete the cycle one would then have to allow the battery to fully discharge or use up all the energy in the battery without ever connecting it to an ac adapter or outlet.

It is in human nature to have the need to stay connected in today’s busy world. People make the mistake of wanting to charge their battery every time it gets low, in essence what this does is cause memory loss to the battery. Over a prolong period, not taking the time to properly cycle the battery it may appear as if the battery is malfunctioning because, it does not hold charge the way it used to. Before rushing into the local computer store to purchase a new battery, one would first want to try a complete cycling of the battery. After allowing the battery to fully discharge, be sure to completely charge the battery per manufacturer specs. Completing this cycling process every 30 times, or so will allow for a more efficient runtime for the battery, as well as, extend the life of the laptop battery itself.
