The EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) has released its assessment for electronic products that meet "green" standards. Products Included in this test are desktops, monitors, laptops and Tablet notebooks. Certainly, we are paying attention in knowing which of our favorite laptop/tablet producers is eco-friendly.
EPEAT's classification helps buyers in the public and private sectors compare, evaluate, and select notebooks and tablets based on their eco friendly attributes. EPEAT also gives a clear and consistent set of performance criteria for the design of goods, and it also gives an opening for manufacturers to secure the market recognition for efforts to reduce the environmental brunt of their products.
EPEAT checks these products according to 3 tiers of environmental performance. If the laptops meet the criteria they get ranked Gold, Silver or Bronze. The total set of performance criteria consists of 23 required-criteria and 28 optional-criteria in eight categories.
