SONY VAIO VGN-CR290 IS HERE TO STAMP AUTHORITY - REVIEW

The VAIO VGN-CR290 is among Sony's recent entries into the price sensitive laptop market. Loaded with a variety of updated multimedia functions, the VAIO VGN-CR290 is focused at those who want a great looking notebook that will realize all their personal computing needs. The base version of this VAIO output priced at $899 is chosen for our review. Is this Sub 1000$ worth the shot of spike, Lets reveal.

Design
The VAIO VGN-CR290 laptop's U.S.P is its inspiring aesthetics. The case is lean and lustrous and is offered in 5 different colors of choice. The CR290 weighs at a mere 5.5 pounds making it handy for personal transport. The case is quite graceful with filleted edges and a ostentatious veneer.

Performance
The pedestal model of the VGN-CR290 is loaded with a 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo processor which has become a commoner in all laptops in this price range. The Random Access Memory is one gigabyte. The CR290 falls squat when co-related to the opposition’s hard disk capacity. Eighty gigabytes comes basic with the CR290 when most of the rivalry is offering considerably bigger hearted hard drives. The graphics card opted for in this is an Intel GMA X3100 which is decent enough for handling multimedia performances.

There are ample ports on offer to make the CR290 a cool option for entertainment purposes. It comes with 3 USB ports, a fire wire port, an Express Card slot, a Memory Stick reader, a secure digital slot, and a VGA and S-Video outputs.

The keyboard is the CR290's main strengths. Typing is made effortless with charitably spaced keys. The devoted media playback buttons are good too. It permits DVD playback to be controlled as if on a DVD player with play/pause, fast forward, rewind, and stop buttons.

A built in 1.3 mega pixel web cam is located at the top of the screen and there is also an in built microphone included with the brightly thought packages of CR290. The Screen is a healthy bright display with an attractive resolution rate of 1280 x 800 pixels. The CR290's obvious weakness in terms of hardware is its mediocre poor sound quality speakers.

Overall
The Sony VAIO VGN-CR290 has loads to offer than just the mere good looks. With its array of multimedia features and host of ports it is a perfect laptop for those who want fashion and functionality in a UNI-package. Sony's CR290 is sure head turner.
