A combination of an array of features , the Toshiba Qosmio F45 is a multimedia notebook which lays its base on the powerful Vista Ultimate edition. Lets check it out..
Design
The lid is a major attraction with superb blue/black coloring and QOSMIO engraved on it. The feel of the exterior as well as the interior is awesome. While the exterior is in your face Toshiba kind, the interior is simple and decent color scheme of whites coupled with silver and blue LED lighting. A sturdy laptop, its a bit bulky but that can be accredited to its strength. The overall design is brilliant. The screen is a 15.4 inch but it suffers from serious drawbacks. The laptop supports HD-DVD but the maximum resolution that the screen can take is 1280x800. This is a real waste of the Hd-DVD power. There is a lot of flickering in the screen unit, which made me question the quality of the display. In the connectivity options, again there was no DVI port for a notebook which has been titled as a multimedia notebook. Having a total of 4 USB ports, VGA output, S-Video, Ethernet, Express Card slot, Firewire, Memory Card reader, modem and headphone/mic jacks, there is nothing to talk about in terms of a multimedia notebook
Performance
Powered by the Intel Core-2-Duo 1.8GHz T7100, 2GB memory, 250GB hard drive and onboard graphics, this notebook was average, nothing to rave about. It managed a 3719 in PCMark 05 and 541 in 3DMark 06, a poor result in the graphics department. This makes it clear that apart from being a multimedia notebook, this is seriously not meant for gaming. The onboard graphics processor is the nail in its coffin.
Conclusion
Average performance, poor screen, bad graphics and a steep price. Enough to turn anyone away from this piece of Toshiba. The design is good but not convincing for that price tag.
Pros
+ Great Design
+ Good hard drive and RAM
Cons
- Poor Screen
- No HDMI/DVI in a Multimedia notebook
