Wouldn’t it be great if we could charge up our laptop computers without having to use long cords and batteries that need to be charged every two hours? Voltaic Systems may have just solved this problem for us by creating solar paneled laptop bags – which they showed off at the 2008 CES show.
Voltaic Systems is known for creating bags that have the ability to charge cellphones and music devices (in other words small electronics) – but they have never before created something big enough to charge up laptops. The new Voltaic Generator bag has a large solar panel that when placed in the sun can charge up to 14.7 watts of electricity. Voltaic boasts that after a day in the sun your bag will be fully charged and ready to go.

"Laptops require specific amounts of voltages as well as specific amounts of power," stated Voltaic representative Jeff Crystal. "Basically, you need a decent amount of solar panel surface area plus cells efficient enough to do something like this in a way that's both useable while providing a good customer experience."
