Rankings in the laptop bazaar have distorted hands in the middle of lesser brands. Apple took the number 7 slot after being hanging around at number 8 for 4 quarters, and ASUS paced up to number 8. Most of the summit 10 brands have sustained their rankings over the precedent year, excluding for Sony. Sony has spent from number 6 in Q3 in the year '07 to number 7 in Q4 of '07, and downhill to number 9 in Q1 '08. Sony's consignment volumes have swept down by 27% in areas where Acer, Dell, and HP have developed by more than 50%. Interesting expansions in the laptop market center roughly Dell's and Toshiba's shipments in Q1 of '08, which were elevated up; the 1st quarter is generally a period of decline. Apple and Samsung augmented their shipments by 7% and 15% correspondingly in Q1, which is worth noting bearing in mind that Apple's base laptop begins at over $1,000 and Samsung does not even trade in the US.
