Lithium-ion technology may be advancing to its borders. Batteries be traditional to technical constraints set by nature and don't comply with Moore's law like the majority of the digital world. In the last 150 years, battery recital has perked up only about 8-fold. The velocity and capability of silicon chips, of course, advances that much every 6 years.
