Notebook that springs life - Lifebook S6420
The new found lifebook is an ultraportable notebook calculated for the mobile professional. It's light, comparatively diminutive, and most excellent of all, it has an in-built 3G modem so you can go online almost everywhere. You can pick one up now for something like £1,000.Design
The LifeBook S6420 is pretty much indistinguishable to its predecessor, the S6410. It's a packed in, lightweight notebook that commands the scales at 1.75Kg and gauges 314mm wide by 234mm high by 22mm deep. It's not as diminutive as a Netbook, but it's still handy enough to carry around all day.
Performance
Our review sample employed an Intel Core 2 Duo T9400, clocked at 2.53GHz. This is a to some extent strange choice of CPU, witnessing as T-series Core 2 Duos are intended with desktop substitution and entry-level gaming notebooks in mind. Fujitsu Siemens also manufactures an edition of the S6420 with P-series 'power-optimized' chips sprinting at 2.4 GHz and 2.26 GHz, which we suppose would be more appropriate.
The S6420 has a pretty powerful CPU, so it's no shock that it scored 5,045 in our PC-Mark 2005 benchmark. For an indication, the Asus G50 gaming notebook scored 5,774, even though it did have two times as much RAM. The S6420's graphics accelerator presentation was sufficient for this class of notebook.
Battery sprint life wasn't quite what we estimated it to be. The S6420 ended a mere 1 hour and 25 minutes in our Battery Eater classic test, which isn't enormous considering the machine is intended to be utilized -- to a hefty degree -- away from the centrals.
Conclusion
We akin to the S6420 for its hard build quality, presentation, security and mobile broadband competence. It's a diminutively pricey option, but if you necessitate a notebook with its considerable security capabilities, it's well appeal a gaze.
