Samsung has just broken into the US notebook market and while their first notebookw as not ground breaking it was still a worthy choice. Meet their latest child: the Samsung R610-64G. This 16 inch laptop is designed to be among the thinnest and lightest 16 inch notebooks on the market, and yes it does succeed at that. Unfortunately it has a few drawbacks.
The laptop comes with 3GB of DDR2 RAM (upgradable to 4GB), 250GB SATA HDD (at 5,400rpm), dual-layer 8x DVD drive, 16 inch screen with 1366x768 resolution, 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0, 512 vidro RAM,Ethernet port, HDMI port, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 3 in 1 card reader, Vista Home Premium and a one year standard warrenty on parts and labor.
All those specs come for a $1049 price tag. The only drawbacks is the 6 cell battery only lasts 2.5 hours (there is a 9 cell battery option) and the graphics and HDD performance left a lot to be desired. But if that price sounds nice to you and you are willing to live with the consequences you are welcome to buy one at this very minute. Good luck on that.
