MSI has launched another child of its X300 family. Previously we have seen X320 and now its X340 from MSI. Weighing only 2.8 pounds just 0.7 inches in thickness, this new MSI child is not build with an Atom CPU but with a Intel CULV processor. With a 1.2-GHz Intel CULV processor MSI X340 has scored 952 on Geekbench for system performance, which is 138 points greater than the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 with a 1.6-GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor.
Though MSI X340 comes with 13.4 inch display it supports 1360 x 768 pixels of resolution and is sharp enough to work as a personal laptop. This new model has both VGA port and HDMI port since it has been designed for 1080p video playback. Inbuilt Ethernet jack, two USB ports, mic and headphone jacks, and memory card reader are some of the attractions from MSI for this new series. Though this model comes with a slightly glossy finish, it’s not glaring enough to catch the eye.
With standard 4 cell battery the X340 lives for 3 hours and with 8 cell battery it can survive up to 6 hours. The MSI X340 is expected to price somewhat just below $1000.
