Corsair, the well known maker of SSD drives, has released its latest in the Extreme Series – the X256. This new SSD has 64MB of cache memory. It offers better speeds and higher capacity. Price is in the range of $695.
Corsair has already released several SSDs – the X32, X64 and X128. The latest X256 is a 2.5 inch SSD featuring Indilinx’s Barefoot controller and Samsung’s MLC NAND flash memory. Corsair said that the new drive has a read speed of 240mb/s and write speeds of 170mb/s.
The X256 is expected to support Windows 7’s TRIM command which would help it run in top speed even when it is nearing its full capacity.
