After having a nice run in Europe, the Flybook V5 is now available in the US. While the machine has some impressive specifications, it is still pricey.
The Flybook V5 is a convertible tablet style notebook. It has an 8.9 inch display which can be folded down over the keyboard for using the device in the tablet mode. The machine is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Intel CULV (Ultra Low Voltage Processor) with up to 4GB of RAM. The user removable battery is expected to give up to 5 hours of run time.
The Flybook V5 has a small pointing stick instead of a touchpad near the top right corner of the keyboard. There are also some buttons above the keyboard that you can press to perform various actions. The keyboard is slightly small and the key placement may displease some touch-typists. The touch screen accepts both finger and pen input.
There are 2 USB ports, audio jacks, a VGA port, Ethernet, ExpressCard slot and a modem jack. The device also comes with HSDPA/EDGE/GSM capability, plus an integrated 1.3 MP webcam.
