The HP Mini 311 is already a good laptop with a NVIDIA ION LE graphics and a higher resolution (1366 x 768 pixels) display. But HP wants to make it better.
HP currently ships the netbook with 1GB of RAM, NVIDIA ION (Light Edition) and 160 GB hard drive. While this configuration isn’t very bad, it doesn’t support the DirectX 10 standard which would considerably improve the graphics performance. Well, the situation is going to change.
As soon as Windows 7 arrives, HP plans to start offering the Mini 311 with Windows 7 Starter, Basic, Premium and Professional editions. The Mini 311 running on Windows 7 will have full NVIDIA ION support and 2 or 3GB of RAM. The strorage option will be a 250GB or 320GB hard drive. HP may also offer the option of an 80GB solid state disk. But what about the price? Well, the addition of better hardware will definitely push the price up.
