SEAGATE UNVEILS SUPER THIN HARD DRIVE

Thin notebooks are made of thin components. Seagate has unveiled a new hard drive measuring just 7 millimeter in thickness. Called Momentus Thin, this hard drive is 2.5 millimeter thinner than Seagate’s existing hard drives.

Seagate will showcase the new drive at CES in January. It will be available in 160GB and 250GB capacities. Both drives will spin at 5400 rpm speeds and have 8MB of cache. Because of its thin profile the Momentus Thin hard drive will be ideal for use in netbooks. It may also be a viable alternative to SSDs.
