A successor to the DV6500 by HP, this 15.4-incher is a great performer with good looks. The latest from HP boasts of good features and performance and a good configuration.
Design
The design is the same like the 6500, the glossy plastic engraved with art-work, it has a great flaunt value. It looks quite fragile, but on the contrary, its quite a sturdy product. The screen is a 15.4” WXGA and it offers good color quality and brightness. It supports a maximum resolution of 1280x800, and is not a very good screen for HD-videos. The keyboard is great with an excellent feel to them due to the double coating on the keys. The touchpad is large enough and has a good response, with the buttons being quite. The laptop has a plethora of connectivity options, Express Card slot, 3 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, Firewire, S-Video, VGA, modem, Ethernet, and a 5-in-1 Card Reader.
Performance
The laptop has a customizable specification, with the processors ranging from a 1.66Ghz Core-2Duo to a 2.2 Ghz Core-2-Duo. The RAM is 3GB ddr2, and the hard drive is a humongous 250GB. The laptop also comes with a 8400M graphics processor from Nvidia, which made it capable to score a 1,556 in 3DMark 06, which is a good score. A decent 3,386 on PCMark 05 makes this PC ideal for day to day business chores. You won't be able to play the latest games at high quality, but average gaming performance is guaranteed.
Conclusion
The 12-cell battery lasted 6 hours in our tests, and a 6-cell would easily last 3-4 hours, so the battery life is good enough. The notebook is good overall, good looks, design, performance. A worthy buy for sure.
Pros
+ Great design
+ Good performance and customizable configuration
Cons
- The screen has viewing angle issues vertically.
