Dell plans to launch an update to the Latitude XT later this year in November. It will be based on Intel’s Centrino2 “Montevina” platform with some form of Intel ULV or LV CPU and new UMA graphics with full sustain for Vista's aero graphical user interface. The first series of XT featured integrated Radeon X1250 mobile IGP.
Initial reports suggest that the Latitude XT2 will incorporate an ultra-thin optical drive directly in the notebook. So, users don't have to shell out for the optional Media Base. There are no changes in the 12.1" form factor and the WXGA panel screen. In addition, Dell plans to drop out 1 USB 2.0 port of the 3 in XT to make room for an eSATA port for external HDDs enabling easy mass data transfer. Nice addition. Hope this continues to become the newest trend in more notebooks soon.
