PORTABLE UX PACK – SLIM AND TRIM

Portable One UX packs a punch in a tiny frame. Portable One rechristens notebooks from various ODMs. In this case, the UX is a Clevo M520N in a different tag. However, little deviation from the previous model was done.

UX defines simple and sleek design. It is all silver, with black bottom and on the trim around the LCD. I like the fact that the edges tend to be rounded so that the boxy features of a business notebooks is long gone, Cause the rounded off edges of the UX demands a change of trend It also carries a bamboo hinge looks similar to the Asus W3J. Its circular curvatures help the notebook seem less “square”. Nameplate in brushed metal oozes class. The silver accent on the 8-cell battery that mimics a hinge blends with the overall concept of the UX.

The UX feels solid in terms of build quality. The magnesium alloy are avoided in the palm rests and the plastic frame around the LCD. The main reason for avoiding magnesium alloy in the palm rests was to avoid the shock problem that was reported in SONY SZ series.

12.1” WXGA glossy screen of the UX fairly matches up with the performance of the notebooks of similar size. The horizontal viewing angles are good, but vertical viewing angles are practically not good.

Portable One UX is loaded with a performance-stimulated 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, Intel GMA 950. And with the added battery backup of 4 hours the UX is much more than a decent notebook that is aiming at recreating the rules of a business laptops.
