Samsung produces yet another competitor with Intel Centrino’s latest ‘Santa Rosa’, Vista capability, definitely ensuring new-gen graphics a reality in your notebook. This machine will make its market presence this June, Priced at £900. Is this a real fighting bull?
Let’s reveal it.
Design
Q70 is not meant to be a sleek hound, but with the lid finished in glossy black veneer looks attractive, but the gray metallic dash inside is dull and the underside is not a stunner either. Size wise it’s a bit bulkier and the weight of 2kg, Thanks to the heavy contributions from the large 6-cell battery attached.
Performance
The Q70 is equipped with Windows Vista Home Premium, excellent 13.3-inch display with sharp resolution of 1,280x800 pixels. There is just one quick-launch button provided, which fires the Samsung’s AVstation media playback software, But it makes little sense because the Windows Media Center software does a much better job of playing back your music and videos.
Q70 features Wi-Fi built-in type, powered by an 802.11n Wi-Fi adaptor, which lets you connect to networks at a theoretical maximum of 300Mbps. The Intel T7300 processor runs at a reasonable pace of 2GHz and is supported up with 2GB of RAM. The Nvidia 8400M GS graphics chip fully supports the transparency and 3D effects in the vista, and matches the stringent requirements of VISTA.
With the battery backup of jus 1 hour and 29 minutes, Samsung scores stay at a very fair level.
Overall
This is just a decent enough laptop. It is loaded with few power packs under its skin; the result, it runs Windows Vista without breaking a sweat.
But the problem this notebook will face is, It does not come with any attitude that makes it to be in the must buy lists. Overall a very basic package
Pros
+ Reasonable features
+ Santa Rosa processor
Cons
- Too basic specification
- Has to slim down, to make it to the top. It’s Bulky.
