If you're like me you have probably purchased well over a dozen flash drives (not to mention media cards) and sad to say most of them are outdated (in terms of storage space). So if you're like me who cannot pass the offer of tinkering around with something than this project is for you (if you can find your old drives that is).
A couple of ideas include using it as a key for you computer. If you have a bunch of files on yout computer that are either classified or you're too embarrassed to share with the world than this option is for you. Window's allows you to use a USB drive as a physical key and thus the system will not turn on unless the USB drive is present.
The next idea is for portable software. Not everyone is a fan of Firefox and thus you might want to carry it around so you don't have to use IE, Opera or Safari. Most free programs allow you to install the programs on the USB drive and thus can be used on any computer that supports the software without the need to install it on the local machine.
And probably the best use of all is to use it as a virtual network computing (VNC) to access any computer you configure it with. While web based programs work good they lag alot and it is much nicer to have near actual speeds as if you were at your home computer. And best of all most VNC programs are free.
