Those cool X25-M SSD's that Intel has been selling for the past couple of months, yeah the ones with the huge price tags which Intel has cut in recent weeks. Well according to the dudes and dudettes over at PC Perspective, the new drives may not be as good as we think.
According to them, the same type of software that they have in the drives to prevent the every day wear and tear such as fragmentation and such is the direct cause of it.
However they claim that this only happens under excessive use and that most light users will not experience it. As far as a fix, the only thing that is known now is to completely wipe out the drive and load the info on it once again. That is until Intel releases a firmware update to fix the problem.=.
