
Viewsonic known for their LCD displays and projectors is the latest to enter the notebook market. The company has released a notebook (the VNB132) and a netbook (the VNB102). The devices are expected to be available in November.
The VNB102 comes with standard netbook specifications including a 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor, 160GB hard disk and 1GB of RAM. It will have a 10.1 inch display featuring 1024x600 pixels. VNB102 will run on the Windows XP operating system. Other features include VGA, 3 USB ports, Ethernet and 3-in-1 card reader. Both 3-cell and 6-cell battery options are available. The 3-cell version is expected to give 3 to 4 hours of up time. It will be retailed for $349. The 6-cell version will have a price tag of $399 and should provide up to six hours of battery life.
The ViewBook Pro (or VNB132) is a 13 inch notebook powered by a low voltage Intel Core 2 SU7300 processor with 2GB of RAM. The estimated battery life is six to eight hours.
The 13.3 inch display features a resolution of 1280x800. The hard disk capacity is 320GB and the standard operating system is Windows 7. There are 2 USB ports, VGA, HDMI, Ethernet, 7-in-1 card reader, 8X DVD Supermulti drive and an ExpressCard/34 slot. Prices start at $899.
